Baptism
Baptism is the church's joining ceremony. We are delighted to welcome in baptism young children whose parents would like to bring them up as Christians and adults who wish to join the church. To find out more about baptism, call Paul, the Rector, on 01372 375000 and don't be put off by his answerphone (or him!!).

Thanksgiving service for the birth of a child
If you would like to join our family service to give thanks to God for the birth of a child please speak to Paul, the Rector (01372 375000). This celebration takes place with the church family and may lead to baptism if you would like.

Marriage
Paul, the Rector, would be pleased to speak to anyone who lives in the village about the possibility of being married at St Mary's.

There are two ways by which you can be married:
  1. Civil marriage in a register office / other licensed venue
  2. Christian marriage (in church)
Civil marriage excludes any content which is remotely religious and you do not even have to promise to love each other.

Christian marriage, by contrast, centres around making a promise to love each other and recognise that we are much more likely to succeed with God's guidance and help.

There is a marriage course run every year for those about to get married. See the
groups page for more information.

Funerals
Paul, the Rector, is pleased to officiate at the funeral service of anyone who lives in the parish. The service may take place in the church (followed by burial or cremation) or at a crematorium chapel, eg Randalls Park. Because he has other commitments, please ask the undertaker to check that Paul is free before fixing the time of the service.
